hema electronic FPGA Mainboard EVB2 with Xilinx Kria SoM

Customized mainboards with Xilinx KRIA

Categories:

hema electronic integrates the new Xilinx Edge-AI SoMs of the Kria series into its embedded vision platform. The company was the first manufacturer worldwide to present a corresponding mainboard at hema VISION DAYS from June 21-24. With the hema embedded vision platform, customers can configure individual electronics and receive a near-series prototype within just six weeks.

The hema embedded vision platform has been available with system-on-modules from Enclustra and Xilinx, allowing flexible selection and scaling of performance. With the recently presented Xilinx Kria SoMs, hema is now expanding the portfolio with additional modules specifically designed for use in applications such as smart cameras, embedded vision, machine vision and smart city. The first SoM to be integrated is the Xilinx Kria K26.

Bridge the gap between evaluation and series
Customers using hema's embedded vision platform benefit from fast hardware development and comprehensive service around startup, software customization and series qualification. In the first step, customers can define interfaces and required functionalities. Within a very short time, hema creates a customer-specific design from this and with the help of over 45 existing building blocks from the hema Design Library. Own or new circuits can be integrated as well. In just six weeks from the time of commissioning, customers then receive a near-series prototype of their electronics, which is already based on industrially suitable and proven circuits and thus creates a perfect bridge between functional prototype and series product. In addition to rapid development, the modular design saves costs and minimizes the risk of design errors.

High re-use and comprehensive Xilinx Kria tools
With the hema prototype, customers can already start developing their own software applications. A Linux-based board support package is available to them for this purpose. They also have access to the Xilinx Kria Environment with numerous developer tools and software. The preliminary work can usually be deployed directly on the later series hardware.

Mainboard as an example project
The EVB2 mainboard with Xilinx Kria K26 SoM presented at hema VISION DAYS offers numerous interfaces for industrial embedded vision projects: From 3x 3G-SDI video input/output via HD-SDI and 3x MIPI to display port, analog video inputs and outputs, USB, GBit Ethernet, CAN and RS-232. Optionally, it can be configured with additional video and communication interfaces, memory and I/Os. The hema embedded vision platform is thus suitable for a wide range of applications such as vehicle all-round vision, multi-sensor systems, video broadcasting and security tasks.
