Results of the StaVari research project at IAA 2019

hema electronic and partner companies present innovations in car body construction at the International Motor Show.

hema electronic presents at the IAA 2019 from September 12th to 22nd in Frankfurt in cooperation with nine other project partners in the research project "StaVari" (steel variance) the innovation in car body construction: the development of a continuous process chain for the additive production of complex, variant-rich and highly functional products made of an innovative steel material.

The visible result of this research project, launched in 2017, is a highly resilient and variant-intensive vehicle structure based on laser additive manufacturing using a newly developed steel material. Joining technologies are of particular importance for the manufacture of this complex vehicle structure.

For "StaVari" hema has developed an innovative camera-based seam tracking and gap detection system in connection with an intelligent cooperating robot of the robot partner Cloos. This enables the steel-LAM components to be joined efficiently and with few tools.

The demonstrator for the project awaits you at the EDAG Group exhibition stand B14 in Hall 9.0.

The "StaVari" project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) Dresden branch. In addition to hema electronic, the project partners include Cloos, Conceptlaser, EDAG, Fraunhofer IAPT, Indutherm Gießtechnologie, the Leipniz Institute for Material-Oriented Technologies IWT Bremen, Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung, Strukturleichtbau Kunststoffverarbeitung SLK and Ziehm Imaging.
